Barua’s body cremated in the capital

Ajay Barua fell ill while covering the World Cup in England and Wales before breathing his last at a London hospital on July 12 when he was 70

Eminent sports journalist Ajay Barua’s dead body was cremated at Kadamtala Crematorium after the rituals were completed at Kamalapur Dharmarajika Bauddha Vihara Sunday.

Barua fell ill while covering the World Cup in England and Wales before breathing his last at a London hospital on July 12 when he was 70.

Barua’s body was brought back to Dhaka Sunday morning and taken to the National Press Club and his workplace at Daily Sangbad office from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

His body was finally taken to Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka in the afternoon.

Representatives from National Sports Council, Bangladesh Olympic Association, Bangladesh Cricket Board, Bangladesh Football Federation, hockey federation, handball federation, archery federation, athletics federation and different clubs and sports journalists’ organizations paid their final respects to Barua at BNS.

President Abdul Hamid expressed deep condolence at the passing away of Barua through a press release Sunday.
