The training camps of the 23 disciplines, ahead of the upcoming 2019 South Asian Games in Nepal, will be going into a nine-day vacation for Eid-ul-Adha from Thursday.

The duration for the Eid vacation was earlier settled for August 10-15.

“After some of the camps were hit by dengue, we sat in a meeting with all the federations’ general secretaries and decided to extend the vacation to avoid further effect,” said the Bangladesh Olympic Association’s training committee member secretary AK Sarkar.

Around 700 athletes from 23 disciplines started their preparation camp at around 19 different venues from July 15.

Kabaddi, basketball and kho kho women’s teams were staying at Sultana Kamal Women’s Sports Complex from where nine athletes caught dengue fever, forcing the respective teams to close their camps Monday.
