Bangladesh U-19 could not finish their impressive English endeavor as they lost the all-important final of the tri-nation series against their Indian counterparts by six wickets.

Young Tigers, who topped the group with 11 points from eight matches, posted 261 runs after winning the toss, thanks to a brilliant century by Mahmudul Hasan Joy, but a combined Indian performance that saw as many as four fifties, helped them reach 264 for the loss of four wickets in 48.4 overs at Hove Sunday.

Bangladesh, who beat host England, the other side of the tournament, thrice in four meetings, started solidly as they reached a vantage position of 123/1 in the 23rd over.

But opener Parvez Hossain Emon, who made a 58-run opening stand with Tanzid Hasan (26), got out for 60 before the middle-order saw a mini-collapse as the side were reduced to 159/5 in the 33rd over.

However, one-down Joy repaired the innings with the help of Shamim Hossain, who made 32, as the pair took the total to 223 in the 46th over.

Despite the fall of Shamim, Joy kept his innings running and ran himself out in the last ball of the innings after scoring 109 off 134 with the aid of nine fours and a six.

Nevertheless, it seemed the young Tigers were 20-30 runs short, and also failed to make some early inroads in the innings as the Indian openers stitched together a 104-run stand before Divyaansh Saxena got out for 55.

His partner Yashasvi Jaiswal (50) and Pragnesh Durgesh Kanpillewar (two) got out quickly but captain Priyam Garg and Dhruv Jurel formed a 109-run stand to take their side close to victory.

Garg was dismissed for a 66-ball 73 but Jurel, who made 59, remained not out and made sure his side lifted the trophy.
