Yeasin Arafat, who rose to the Bangladesh Premier League straight from the Third Division, was delighted after being named by head coach Jamie Day in the 23-man squad
Defender Yeasin Arafat has been in the headlines recently after it was revealed that his club, Bangladesh Premier League outfit Saif Sporting set his release clause at Tk1 crore and 60 lakhs.
Yeasin had more cause for joy Saturday as he received his maiden call-up to the national side for the 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup Joint Qualifier against Afghanistan, slated for September 10 in Tajikistan capital Dushanbe.
Yeasin, who rose to the BPL straight from the Third Division, was delighted after being named by head coach Jamie Day in the 23-man squad.
“Like everyone else, I also dreamt of playing for the national team. But I didn’t imagine the call-up would come so soon. I’ll try to repay the coach’s faith if I get to play. I played a lot of difficult games in the premier league. So I am ready for any challenge,” said Yeasin.
Bangladesh coach Jamie Day wants to get the best from the combination of both the performance of his charges and tactics to bag a positive result against Afghanistan in their 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup qualifier 2nd-round tie in Tajikistan.https://t.co/ftrIRTt5Ja#BFF

The men in red and green departed for Dushanbe Sunday morning.
They will play two practice matches before taking on Afghanistan and Day said the ones who play well in those will get the nod for the Afghan clash.
Day also expressed hope of a positive result against the higher-ranked Afghans.
