Mosaddek Hossain admitted they need to be more clinical with regards to executing their plans against a quality spin attack like Afghanistan’s

Bangladesh middle-order batsman Mosaddek Hossain admitted that the Tigers batsmen need to be more clinical in the middle, and vowed to play aggressive cricket in their remaining games of the tri-nation T20I series.

Bangladesh won their first match against Zimbabwe Friday from a difficult situation and then lost against Afghanistan by 35 runs in the second game Sunday.

Mosaddek played a crucial role in the first match, building a match-winning partnership with Afif Hossain to clinch a nervy win.

Before facing Zimbabwe Wednesday, Mosaddek informed that the Tigers will play aggressive cricket to achieve a commanding win against their opponent in the next game.

“Gaining momentum is required for us. We need to win the next match. We have won the first game, but lost the second. Obviously next game is important for us. Definitely, we will play for victory, and we will play 100% aggressive cricket to achieve them,” Mosaddek said to the media on the eve of their next match against Zimbabwe at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Tuesday.

Bangladesh have lost four times against Afghanistan in the T20I format, struggling to tackle with their spin attack.

Mosaddek admitted they need to be more clinical with regards to executing their plans against a quality spin attack like Afghanistan’s.

“Skill is very important factor in T20I cricket. Most of the spinners in Afghanistan are wrist spinners. It’s difficult to score boundaries every time against them. I think we need to be more clinical in executing our game plans out there. That’s why we are losing matches by small margins. When we lose matches then naturally criticisms come. In that case, we try to skip it and focus more on our own gameplan, or how we can perform better and overcome our shortcomings,” said the 23-year old.

Bangladesh team management has made five changes to the squad for the remainder of the series, including two uncapped players - left-handed opener Naim Sheikh and top-order batsman-cum-legspinner Aminul Islam Biplob.

Mosaddek hopes the newcomers will shine and rise to the occasion if they get the chance to play.

“New players have performed well in A team or High Performance team, that’s why they have been selected. We needed a leg-spinner, and Biplob is bowling well in recent times. And Naim has performed well for A team so we are hoping that they will perform well for the team,” he concluded.
