The Bangladesh U-23 cricket team’s batsmen undid the good work of their bowlers as the visiting side lost the first of five one-dayers against their Indian counterparts by 34 runs Friday.
Asked to bat first, the home side posted a moderate 192 losing nine wickets in their stipulated 50 overs.
All-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz starred with the ball, taking three wickets conceding 29 runs in his quota of 10 overs, including two maidens.
He was well supported by captain Saif Hasan (2/23) and Abu Haider Rony (2/37).
Aryan Jewel top-scored for the Indians with 69 while BR Sharth made 42 but none of the other batters were able to post any significant contributions.
In reply, the Bangladeshis were all out for 158 in 48.4 overs.

The tourist suffered some early hiccups as Sabbir Hasan (nought), Yasir Ali (six), Saif (12), Al Amin (four) and Jaker Ali (three) all departed cheaply.
Zakir Hasan and Ariful Haque then set about doing the recovery work with the former scoring 48 before retiring hurt.
Miraz (20) then joined Ariful (38) at the crease but both soon departed, leaving Bangladesh in trouble.
Robiul Islam’s 21 at the end was not enough as Bangladesh eventually fell well short.
India’s Hrithik Shokin, Subhang Hegre and Jayaswal bagged two wickets apiece.
The second match will be played Saturday.
