“Wins always give confidence. We have lost a lot of matches against Afghanistan. But now I think we have found the momentum. We know how to play against them." said Mosaddek

Bangladesh received a boost ahead of the final of the tri-nation T20I series against Afghanistan when they beat the same opponent by four wickets in the dead rubber match at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Saturday.

The win somewhat came as a relief to the Tigers as it was their first T20I victory over the Afghans in more than five years.

Youngster Mosaddek Hossain however, refused to get carried away and said they need to maintain their process if they are to achieve a positive result in the grand finale Tuesday at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

“A win like this before the final will surely increase the team confidence. However, I think when we lost a match we did not go under the floor, and now that we have won, we are not going over the moon. So I think we should maintain the process that we are implementing now. We should continue the way we are playing in the final,” Mosaddek told the media after the game.

“Wins always give confidence. We have lost a lot of matches against Afghanistan. But now I think we have found the momentum. We know how to play against them. We have been calculative in the last two matches. I think if we can continue doing this in the final, we can get a good result,” said Mosaddek.

In pursuit of 139, the Tigers were in a spot of bother at the start of the innings and in the middle stages, losing quick wickets.

However, captain Shakib al Hasan held firm at one end, remaining unbeaten on 70 off 45 balls.

Mosaddek unleashed some big hits at the end, scoring an undefeated 19 off 12 balls to guide the Tigers home.

When queried as to whether batting is a concern for Bangladesh in the shortest format, Mosaddek said, “In T20Is, not everyone will play well in every innings. Even four or five players will not play well; one or two players need to perform for the team to win. I think everyone should contribute, but sometimes it is not possible. Whoever is playing well should continue. I hope the players who did not get runs so far, will get runs in the final.”
