Anju Jain not to travel to Pakistan

Bangladesh women’s cricket team head coach Anju Jain has decided not to be part of her side’s tour of Pakistan. 

The Tigresses are scheduled to travel to Pakistan next month for three T20Is and two ODIs.

It is understood that former Indian cricketer Anju, along with two other coaching staffs, who are also Indians have come to the decision owing to the critical diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan. 

In place of Anju, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has opted for interim coach Dipu Roy Chowdhury.

"This is not in our hands [Indian coaches travelling to Pakistan]. It is more or less a diplomatic issue," Bangladesh women’s team manager Javed Omar said to a cricket-based website Sunday.

Meanwhile, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury informed that security inspection will take place before the Bangladesh eves travel to Pakistan. 

According to the BCB CEO, the inspection will also monitor the situation for the likely tour of Bangladesh men’s team in January, 2020. 

“We want to complete the inspection before the women’s team travel to Pakistan. It helps us that way [also preparing for the men’s team's tour],” said Nizamuddin to reporters at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka Sunday.
