The third edition of the Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup is all set to kick off in Chittagong Saturday with eight participating clubs from five different countries. Dhaka Tribune takes a look at six footballers playing in different positions, who could be the ones to look out for during the 12-day tournament.

Daniel Colindres (Bashundhara Kings)

The Costa Rican showed his class in his debut season in Bangladesh scoring a total of 17 goals and providing more than a dozen assists to play a crucial role in Bashundhara’s title winning campaign in the premier league and Independence Cup, while finishing as runners-up in the Federation Cup. The 34-year old extended his contract for one more year and will be the center of attraction for his individual skills and for having played at the 2018 World Cup.

Jamal Bhuiyan (Ctg Abahani)

The star captain of Bangladesh is currently at the peak of his form, having performed consistently at the heart of the national team midfield for the last seven years. He was the second player after Colindres to be honored by his club, Saif Sporting Club, who extended his contract for another season before loaning him off to Chittagong Abahani Limited for the Club Cup. After showing his class against the likes of Qatar and India recently, the 29-year old will no doubt be under the spotlight in front of the home crowd throughout the tournament.

Prince Tagoe (Ctg Abahani)

Tagoe will be the second player to have played at a World Cup after Colindres who is set to play for a Bangladeshi club in this millennium. The veteran striker featured in all three matches for Ghana during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and will be the one to watch out for. The 32-year old played for German side Hoffenheim, Bursaspor and Partizan Belgrade before making it to the World Cup squad and has played for Turkish lower-tier side Isparta Davrazspor before signing for Chittagong Abahani.

Andrew Lee Tuck (Terengganu FC)

Lee Tuck will return to Bangladesh after three years but will not be playing for a local club and will represent Malaysian outfit Terengganu. The Bangladesh domestic football followers will remember the English midfielder’s name for his eye-catching midfield display with Abahani Limited in what was his only season in Bangladesh. With his footwork, passing and scoring ability along with a plethora of assists, the 31-year old attacking midfielder will definitely be the one to look out for.

Yeasin Khan (Bashundhara Kings)

Four to five years ago, Yeasin Khan was considered the country’s top defender but due to injury and suspensions, he was out of action for quite a while. The center-back played a crucial role behind Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra’s solid defensive record last season, before signing for the big-spending Kings for the upcoming season. The 25-year old found his old form back in the red and green jersey, scoring twice against Bhutan and putting in an excellent show against Qatar and India this month to become one of the top defenders to watch out for.

Francisco Javier Gonzalez (Mohun Bagan AC)

Gonzalez spent his youth career in Real Madrid before spending the first nine years of his senior career with as many as nine different clubs in the Spanish lower divisions. The 30-year old also played for the first team of Real Zaragoza in the Copa del Rey in 2013. The adventurous defensive midfielder joined Bagan three months ago after playing one season each in Cyprus, Thailand, Poland and lately in Hong Kong.
