Mushfiq redeems himself with 4 consecutive fours

Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim plays a scoop shot during their first T20I against India in New Delhi Sunday AFP

The first four was from a pull shot and it was followed by a scoop, a hard-hitting square drive off a low full toss and finally, a slice towards  third-man boundary

Mushfiqur Rahim formed a crucial 50-run partnership with Soumya Sarkar while chasing India’s 148 runs.

In the last ball of the 17th over, Soumya was cleaned up by Khaleel Ahmed and Bangladesh still needed 44 off 18 deliveries.

Mahmudullah came to the crease but Mushfiq was the key.

Mushfiq received a reprieve in the third ball of the 18th over, bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal, as Krunal Pandya dropped a sitter in the boundary line at deep mid wicket before conceding a boundary.

That dropped catch proved to be costly for India as, in the very next over (19th), Mushfiq took charge and smashed four consecutive boundaries to get Bangladesh near victory.

The first four was from a pull shot and it was followed by a scoop, a hard-hitting square drive off a low full toss and finally, a slice towards  third-man boundary.

A total of 18 runs were scored by Bangladesh - 17 by Mushfiq - and the Tigers were sniffing victory.

In the end, Bangladesh sealed the match with a sixer from interim skipper Mahmudullah and Mushfiq celebrated by pumping the air in joy.

Krunal, elder brother of Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, dropped the catch and thus the game, as the brave Mushfiq did the job for the Tigers.
