Apart from Ruyel Miah’s heroics, batmen ruled the roost at the other venues as three players scored centuries in as many matches in an eventful day
Sylhet’s young seamer Ruyel Miah set a new record by a Bangladeshi fast bowler as he grabbed eight wickets on the first day of the sixth and final round of the National Cricket League Saturday.
Apart from Ruyel’s heroics, batmen ruled the roost at the other venues as three players scored centuries in as many matches in an eventful day.
Sylhet v Chittagong
In the virtual title-decider of tier two, 18-year old Ruyel, who is playing his second first-class match, utilized the conditions of Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra to decimate the opposition as his 8/26 bundled them out for a paltry 106.
With this figure, Ruyel has rewritten the record books as he effaced the name of Talha Jubair, who held the previous record of 8/35.
Sylhet, who need a mere draw to retain the top position of tier two, ended the day on 186/5, already securing a lead of 80 runs.
Amit Hasan, who made 55, was the only batsman to score a half-century on a day when 15 wickets fell.
