A 19-member Bangladesh team took part in the 21st Asian Archery Championship as a part of their preparation for the 13th South Asian Games beginning in Nepal Sunday
Bangladeshi women archers Ety Khatun, Mahanaz Akter Monera and Beauty Ray failed to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics 2020 as they exited in the Continental Qualification Tournament of the 21th Asian Archery Championship at Rajamangala National Stadium in Thailand Thursday.
The women archers had the opportunity to progress to the Tokyo Olympics from the recurve division “quota” by winning the CQT of the Asian event, apart from Bangladeshi Mohammad Ruman Shana, who directly qualified for the biggest sports extravaganza of the world.
Among the three Bangladeshis in the recurve division, Ety was ousted from the round of eight (pre-quarterfinal) after suffering a 6-5 set points defeat against Loc Thi Dao of Vietnam.
Ety beat compatriot Monera by 6-2 set points in the round of 16 after beating Mamatkulova Aiturgan of Kyrgyzstan by straight 6-0 set points in the round of 24.

Monera advanced to the round of 16 after getting a “bye”.
Meanwhile, Beauty defeated Soldatenko Anastasiya of Uzbekistan by 6-0 set points in the round of 24 but she conceded a 5-6 set points defeat against Tukebayeva Farida of Kazakhstan in the round of 16.
