Premier archer Mohammad Ruman Shana began the 13th South Asian Games campaign in style after finishing on top out of eight participants in the qualification round of the men’s recurve event at the national archery field in Pokhara Friday.
Ruman, who scored 686 points, will play Nepalese archer in the quarter-final Saturday.
Mohammad Tamimul Islam, who finished fourth in the qualification round, will face Bhutanese opponent.

Ety Khatun was also placed first in the women’s recurve individual event with 632, while Mehnaz Akter finished second with 625.
Sushmita Banik, the 2016 silver-medalist, also finished top in the qualification round of the women’s compound event with 685 where Shoma Biswas finished second with three points less.
The quarter-finals and semi-finals of all the recurve and compound events will be held Saturday.
