Khulna Tigers opened their account in the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 with an impressive batting display as they defeated Chattogram Challengers by eight wickets in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Thursday.

Chasing 145 to win, Khulna reached their target within 13.5 overs.

Khulna lost an early wicket as left-handed batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanto got stumped in the very first over.

But the other opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz formed an impressive 70-run partnership with Kolpak player Rilee Rossouw, scoring at a brisk rate.

Gurbaz registered his half century in just 18 deliveries in the sixth over before getting out in the next ball.

Gurbaz smashed four fours and five sixes in his entertaining innings.

That partnership laid a solid foundation for Khulna as they clinched the match easily in the end.

Five batsmen from Chittagong’s top- and middle-order reached double figure but no one managed to carry their start and in the end, the port city outfit ended with a moderate total.
