Challengers maintain top spot after beating Platoon

Chattogram Challengers maintained their stay at the top of the seven-team Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 points table after beating Dhaka Platoon by 16 runs at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong Wednesday.

The Challengers are at the summit with eight points from five matches, while Dhaka are third from bottom with four points from as many games.

Asked to bat first, the Challengers posted a commanding 221 losing four wickets in their stipulated 20 overs, riding on brisk half centuries from opener Lendl Simmons (57) and captain Mahmudullah (59).

Right-arm seamer Hasan Mahmud bagged two wickets for Dhaka.

In reply, Dhaka gave as good as they got before being all out for 205 in their allotted 20 overs, opening batsman Mominul Haque top-scoring for his side with 52.

Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera chipped in with 47.

Left-arm seamer Mehedi Hasan Rana and right-arm pacer Muktar Ali bagged three wickets apiece.
