Dhaka win despite Mushfiq heroics

Khulna skipper Mushfiqur Rahim made a valiant effort in the chase of 173 posted by Platoon, but his innings of 64 runs off just 33 deliveries was not enough as Khulna finished on 160/8 in their stipulated 20 overs

Dhaka Platoon held their nerve to seal a 12-run win over the Khulna Tigers in their Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 match at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium Friday.

Khulna skipper Mushfiqur Rahim made a valiant effort in the chase of 173 posted by Platoon, but his innings of 64 runs off just 33 deliveries was not enough as Khulna finished on 160/8 in their stipulated 20 overs.

After the loss of some early wickets, Mushfiq and Nazibullah Zadran formed a 56-run partnership to stabilize the innings.

However, wickets at crucial moments cost Khulna the game.

Mushfiq smashed four sixes and six fours in his innings but perished in the penultimate over, with the Tigers needing 24 off eight balls.

Platoon pacer Hasan Mahmud continued his impressive run of form in the BBPL, picking up four wickets while conceding 32 runs to be adjudged man-of-the-match.

Platoon captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza picked up one wicket and conceded 26 runs in three overs.

Earlier, Dhaka posted 172/4 in their 20 overs.

Tamim had scored 25 off 23 deliveries, including three boundaries and one six.

No 3 batsman Mominul Haque scored 38 off 36 deliveries, while all-rounder Ariful Haque finished unbeaten on 37 off 30 balls.

Amir picked up two wickets for Khulna and conceded 27 runs.
