Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo has termed the wickets in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium as average following his side’s nine-wicket defeat against host Pakistan in the second and penultimate Twenty20 international Saturday.

With the defeat, the Tigers conceded the series with one game to spare.

In both the first and second T20I, the visiting side opted to bat first but struggled to put on defendable totals.

Sluggish run rate has been a major concern as the Tigers posted 141 runs in the first game at a run rate of 7.05 and 136 in the second at 6.8.

Traditionally the tracks at Gaddafi Stadium have not produced high-scoring contests and Domingo said the wickets have been anything but easy to bat on.

“It did not look like an easy wicket. It showed in the first game, we scored 142 (141) and they reached the total with two balls to spare. We know how good Pakistan is with their defence. If you look at their record they are probably a fantastic side defending their scores. With an inexperienced batting line-up and them trying to squeeze us in the second innings have not worked for us,” said Domingo Saturday.

“The wickets have been a bit average. But we are up against a fantastic Pakistan team. The team are pretty comfortable at the moment. We are all feeling good but unfortunately we are down because of the result,” said the former South Africa coach.

The Tigers will be desperate to avoid a whitewash when they take on the home side in the third and final T20I Monday.

Bangladesh have experimented with their line-up in the first two matches and Domingo informed that it will remain the same in the third game.

Pacers Rubel Hossain and Hasan Mahmud and top-order batsman Nazmul Hossain Shanto are yet to get match time in the series and may get a look in Monday.

“I need to give everyone the opportunity. We are 2-0 down in the series. There are three boys that have not played and they will definitely come in and we can look at few more options,” informed Domingo.
