Nat’l Mourning Day observed in sports arena

Different sports federations, clubs, and the youth and sports ministry observed the national mourning day by arranging various programs to mark the 45th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Bangladesh Cricket Board at the BCB National Cricket academy ground and Bangladesh Football Federation at BFF House distributed food among the poor and needy people, while recitation from the Holy Quran and special prayers were also arranged.

Abahani Limited took day-long initiatives to pay tribute to their founder Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Bangabandhu who died on the same day.

Directors, officials and players of Abahani garlanded flowers on the mural of Sheikh Kamal at the club premises in the first hour of August 15. 

The national and club flags were half-raised, while black flag was raised throughout the day.

Abahani members also visited the Banani graveyard in the capital to say prayers, and wreathed flowers on the tomb of Sheikh Kamal in the morning. 

Recitation from the Holy Quran, distribution of food among the poor and special prayers were also arranged at the club.  

National Sports Council held a discussion meeting, while the Ministry for Youth and Sports also arranged different events to mark the day.

Bangladesh Chess Federation and Bangladesh Gymnastic Federation also held discussion, distributed food and arranged special prayers to observe the national mourning day.
