FM Subrata of Bangladesh Navy emerged as the highest ranked Bangladeshi at 12th place
Indonesian Grandmaster Megaranto Susanto became the unbeaten champion in the Joytu Sheikh Hasina International Online Chess Tournament 2020, organized to mark the 73rd birthday celebration of Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
GM SL Narayanan emerged as the runners-up while GM Tabatabbaei Amin of Iran finished third.
Megaranto, Narayanan and Tabatabaei had all earned seven points each, and their tie was broken by Buchhloz cut 1 and Buchhloz score.
Fide Master Subrata Biswas of Bangladesh Navy emerged as the highest ranked Bangladeshi at 12th place.
The prizes will be distributed among the participants Sunday at Hotel La Meridian where the State Minister for Youth and Sports Jahid Ahsan Russel will be present as the chief guest.
A total of 74 players, including 17 GMs and six International Masters participated in the event.
The tournament was sponsored by Canadian University, Bangladesh, and organized by South Asian Chess Council associated by Golden Sporting Club.
