Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal and all-rounder Mahmudullah are all set to take part in the playoffs of the Pakistan Super League 2020 after getting the green signal from the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

After receiving the No Objection Certificate from the BCB, Tamim will turn out for Lahore Qalandars while Mahmudullah will feature for Multan Sultans, with the playoffs slated for November 14-17.

The Bangladesh duo were picked as replacements with Tamim replacing Australian batsman Chris Lynn and Mahmudullah coming in for English all-rounder Moeen Ali.

"We will give them NOC as the PSL is not clashing with our domestic T20 tournament," BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan told Cricbuzz.

Tamim, who was appointed the national ODI skipper in March this year, scored a total of 101 runs in four matches in the recently concluded BCB President’s Cup where his side exited in the league phase, while Mahmudullah’s team emerged victorious with the all-rounder chipping in with 162 runs and two wickets in five games.

Through the 50-over President’s Cup, competitive cricket resumed in Bangladesh after the Covid-19 pandemic halted all sports activities in the country last March.

The cricketers earlier resumed group training in August before their tour of Sri Lanka was postponed due to strict Covid-19 protocols set by Sri Lanka Cricket and its government for the visiting team.

Both Tamim and Mahmudullah previously played in the PSL Twenty20, the former featuring prominently for Peshawar Zalmi and the latter turning out for Quetta Gladiators.

"I can't wait to be back at the PSL. Lahore have had an amazing journey and I want to help our team win the trophy this year," Tamim was quoted as saying.

Mahmudullah said, “It's an honor to play in the PSL. Cricket is being played very differently this year and I hope to play a part in bringing smiles to the faces of our fans.”
