Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed received an injury scare with the ODI home series against West Indies just nine-days away. Right-arm pacer Taskin injured finger of his left hand during the team’s practice session at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday.

Taskin, who was bowling in the nets to Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal, tried to stop a drive and ended with the injury.

The lanky paceman was taken off the nets immediately and is expected to get the injured part stitched on Monday night.

“Taskin tore apart his finger and tonight [Monday] we will stitch the injury. We can determine the number of days of his unavailability only after he is given the stitches,’’ Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] physician Manjur Hossain told reporters on Monday.

“He, for the time being will be kept under observation for two to three days as it is not his bowling hand,’’ Manjur added.

Bangladesh is set to play their first international series in 10 months taking on tourists West Indies in the three-match ODI series scheduled to start on January 20. Taskin is a  part of the Bangladesh ODI preliminary squad.
