9th Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games to be held in April

This was decided in the executive committee meeting of the Bangladesh Olympic Association at Kurmitola Golf Club Saturday

The ninth edition of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games will be held in Dhaka and other divisions of the country from April 1-10 this year.

This was decided among other things in the executive committee meeting of the Bangladesh Olympic Association in the capital’s Kurmitola Golf Saturday.

Around 8,500 players, team officials and technical officials in charge of supervising the games will take part in the Bangladesh Games, organized to mark the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

It was also decided in the meeting that the Bangladesh contingent would be involved in 13 disciplines in the fifth edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games, scheduled to be held this year in Turkey from September 10-19, and 17 disciplines in the 19th edition of the Asian Games, slated for next year in China’s Hangzhou from September 10-22.

Islamic Solidarity Games disciplines: Athletics, archery, basketball 3-on-3, fencing, football, gymnastics, handball, karate, swimming, taekwondo, weightlifting, volleyball and wrestling.

Asian Games disciplines: Swimming, archery, athletics, basketball 3-on-3, cricket, fencing, football, golf, gymnastics, hockey, kabaddi, karate, bridge, roller skating, shooting, taekwondo and weightlifting.
