Top-order batsman Saif Hasan lit up the first day of the first round of the National Cricket League 2021 season with a century for Dhaka as veteran Tushar Imran was unfortunate to get run out on 99 for Khulna.
Tier 1
Dhaka vs Rangpur
Winning the toss, Dhaka lost both their openers, Abdul Mazid and Rony Talukder (both nought), within three overs without even scoring a run at BKSP, Savar.
But No 3 batsman Saif and Mahidul Islam Ankon steadied the ship as these two formed a 79-run partnership for the third wicket.
Ankon got out after a good looking 47 but Saif carried his innings and struck a superb century in the end.
The right-hander scored 127 with 11 fours and five sixes.
Dhaka captain Nadif Chowdhury made a good contribution in the lower middle-order with a 69-run innings with eight fours and two sixes.
In the end Dhaka concluded day one on 297 runs losing eight wickets.
Alauddin Babu was the best bowler for Rangpur as he picked up four wickets conceding 25 runs.
Khulna v Sylhet
Khulna finished the day with 308 on the board for the loss of seven wickets, riding on 90-plus scores from two experienced campaigners Imrul Kayes and Tushar Imran.
Both Imrul and Tushar missed out on centuries as Imrul was dismissed after scoring 90 with 10 boundaries and a couple of sixes, while Tushar was unfortunate to be caught short of the crease on 99.
Tushar’s 99 came from just 117 deliveries, and the veteran struck 13 fours in his entertaining innings.

Chittagong vs Rajshahi
Chittagong middle-order batsman Shahadat Hossain played a patient knock of unbeaten 88 to help his side to get past 250 on day one.
Chittagong finished the day on 256/7 against controlled bowling effort from Rajshahi bowlers.
Shahadat’s 88 came from 224 deliveries with eight boundaries.
Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque scored six while Yasir Ali (63) and Mehedi Hasan Rana (55) scored half centuries.
Barisal v Dhaka Metropolis
Barisal were all out for 241 batting first against Dhaka Metro in Barisal.
Veteran Mohammad Ashraful opened the batting for Barisal and scored 48 off 134 deliveries with six boundaries.
Abu Sayem (46), Sohag Gazi (45) and Saykat Ali (36) scored significantly in the middle-order but no batsmen were able to carry their innings for a big total.
Abu Haider and Rakibul Hasan were the best bowlers for Dhaka as they picked up three wickets each.
In reply, Dhaka finished the day scoring 29 runs losing one wicket as opener Anisul Islam Emon made 10 before getting dismissed.
