Several England cricketers and many others on social media labelled as "disgusting" and "distasteful" comments made by controversial Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen on her twitter account, where she opined that England all-rounder Moeen Ali would probably have joined ISIS in Syria were it not for cricket.

Social media users and English cricketers Jofra Archer, Sam Billings, Ben Duckett and Saqib Mahmood came down hard on Taslima, whose tweet was later removed.

Taslima claimed that she had tweeted it as a means of "sarcasm".

"Are you okay ? I don’t think you’re okay," posted right-arm paceman Jofra before adding, "Sarcastic? No one is laughing, not even yourself, the least you can do is delete the tweet."

Wicketkeeper-batsman Billings simply tweeted, "Please everyone report this account” while right-arm seamer Saqib posted, " Can’t believe this. Disgusting tweet. Disgusting individual."

"This is the problem with this app. People being able to say stuff like this. Disgusting. Things need to change, please report this account!," Duckett wrote.
