With today’s innings Liton has scored 76 runs in seven games with an average of just 10.86 and strike rate of 58.46

Bangladesh opener Liton Kumar Das continued to struggle at the top order as the right-hander got out scoring nought against Sri Lanka in the first ODI on Sunday.

This is the third time Liton got out without scoring in his last seven ODI innings. With today’s innings Liton has scored 76 runs in seven games with an average of just 10.86 and strike rate of 58.46. Before today’s game Liton had scored 14, 22 and 0 against the West Indies at home and 19, 0 and 21 against New Zealand away from home this year.

On the other hand, Liton’s opening partner Tamim Iqbal is having a good time with the bat as the latter has registered four fifties in his last seven outings.  Liton, often regarded as one of the best stroke makers in the country, needs to find his form soon otherwise Bangladesh may opt to Soumya Sarker in the opening slot with Tamim.

Soumya could not break into playing eleven due to Shakib’s return to number three batting position.
