Shakib and Mushfiq, the wicketkeeper, the most experience players of the side, however, went for a review just to see another one being wasted

Bangladesh lost back to back wickets in the 23rd over of their innings as well-set Tamim Iqbal (52) and number five batsman Mohammad Mithun (0) were judged leg before wicket against Sri Lanka off-spinner Dhananjaya de Silva in the fifth and sixth ball of the over.

Tamim was trapped by a yorker length delivery from the Sri Lankan right-arm bowler while Mithun tried to play an audacious sweep shot the very first ball he faced. Both the dismissals looked plumb in front in naked eye but Bangladesh surprisingly took reviews on both occasions and hence wasted them.

Mushfiqur Rahim was at the non striker end in both incidents and both the batsmen went for review after discussing with the experienced campaigner. During Sri Lanka’s batting innings Bangladesh took another review decision as the delivery from off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz in the fourth ball of third over was gliding down the leg side clearly.

But surprisingly, Bangladesh went for review and replays showed the ball clearly missed the leg stump as it was predicted while being seen in real time action. The conundrum continues when Shakib al Hasan appealed for a leg before against left-handed batsman Kusal Perera in the final delivery of the 19th occasion.

On that occasion, although the trajectory of the full-toss delivery seemed to hit the timber but the impact was clearly outside the leg. Shakib and Mushfiq, the wicketkeeper, the most experience players of the side, however, went for a review just to see another one being wasted.
