At Mirpur, Sheikh Jamal secured a 22-run victory over Khelaghar
Abahani Limited, Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, Prime Bank Cricket Club and Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited got off to a winning start in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Twenty20 League 2019-20 Monday.
Batsmen Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Tasamul Haque were under the limelight for their respective teams, while decent performances were recorded with the ball.
Two of the games, between Old DOHS and Legends of Rupganj and the other between Brothers Union and Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club ended in no result due to rain and wet outfield at the BKSP grounds.
At Mirpur in the afternoon game, Sheikh Jamal secured a 22-run victory over Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity.
Sheikh Jamal opted to bat first and posted 166 losing six wickets boosted by a good start by the openers.
Saykat Ali and Mohammad Ashraful scored 36 each at the top, while decent contributions from others took the side to a defendable total.
Pacer Khaled Ahmed picked up two wickets for Khelaghar.
In reply, Khelaghar were able to put 144 on the board in 20 overs for eight wickets.
Opener Imtiaz Hossain’s 26 was the best in the innings as left-arm spinner Elias Sunny topped the Sheikh Jamal bowling unit with three wickets for 18 runs in four overs.
