BCB chief Nazmul suggested that Bangladesh national cricket team during the second leg of IPL will have very busy schedule and more importantly will undergo preparation for the ICC World T20

Bangladesh cricketers Shakib al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman are unlikely to get No Objection Certificate [NoC] for the remainder of the Indian Premier League. Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan during an interview with a Dhaka based news channel hinted of the board’s likely decision.

All-rounder Shakib and left-arm pacer Mustafizur have been part of Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals respectively in this year’s IPL. The tournament started on April 9 but got suspended due to rise in Covid-19 cases inside the participating teams. On May 4 the tournament was suspended and is now being planned to resume in September in UAE.

Shakib, Mustafizur along with other overseas players and officials returned home through special arrangements as many countries till date have kept borders closed with India, the country that has been suffering a deadly wave of Covid-19 situation.

BCB chief Nazmul suggested that Bangladesh national cricket team during the second leg of IPL will have very busy schedule and more importantly will undergo preparation for the ICC World T20. Thus, it will be unlikely for BCB to release those vital players for an overseas tournament as that will hamper their plans.

“Because of the schedule we have, it is almost impossible for Shakib to get the NOC. I do not see any possibilities. The World Cup is coming up, which makes every game important for us," said Nazmul to Ekattor TV earlier this week.

The Bangladesh cricketers following the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division T20 League will travel to Zimbabwe in June for a Test, three ODIs and three T20Is. The tour will be followed by hosting Australia in a five-match T20I series at home in July-August. Next will be home series against New Zealand involving three T20Is and England for three ODIs and as many T20Is.

Shakib returned to international cricket through the home series against West Indies at the start of this year completing a year-long ban imposed by the International Cricket Council [ICC] for failing to report corrupt approaches.

After the West Indies series, the left-arm all-rounder missed Bangladesh’s tour of New Zealand in March due to injury and to stay with his pregnant wife. The star Bangladesh cricketer however was hit with controversy after he had decided to play in IPL T20 by skipping the tour of Sri Lanka for two Tests in March-April.
