With the result both Shinepukur and Jamal now have two points each from three games
Bangladesh national team cricketer Mehedi Hasan Miraz and experienced campaigner Jahurul Islam helped Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity clinch their first win of the ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League Twenty20 Friday.
Khelaghar chased down Legend of Rupganj’s total to win by seven wickets at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in their third match of the league, while Shinepukur Cricket Club and Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club won their respective matches at the same venue.
After winning the toss, Shinepukur opening pair Sabbir Hossain (20) and Tanzid Hasan made a solid start as they formed a 54-run stand off 50 balls.
One-down Towhid Hridoy added 28 and Robiul Islam Robi remained not out on 34 off 26 balls to post a total of 137/5 on the board in their stipulated 20 overs.
Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited’s Ziaur Rahman picked up two wickets conceding just 16 runs off four overs.
In reply, Jamal lost both their openers within two overs but Nasir Hossain and Elias Sunny not only repaired the innings but seemed to be cruising to the under-par total on the overused surface of SBNCS
However, Nasir was out for 28 in the fifth ball of the ninth over after forming a 58-run partnership off 41 balls and all of a sudden, Jamal faced a disaster in their batting.
Nurul Hasan and Tanbir Hayder were dismissed in the next over for one and zero respectively to make things clumsy, while Sunny was dismissed in the 13th over after scoring 30 leaving the side on a precarious positing of 83/6.
Sohrawardi Shuvo scored 15 and Mohammd Enamul made 19 but in the end Jamal folded for 127 in 19.5 overs to be beaten by 10 runs.
Tanvir Islam, the slow left-arm spinner of Shinepukur, bagged three wickets conceding just eight runs off four overs to be adjudged man of the match.
With the result both Shinepukur and Jamal now have two points each from three games.
