Mushfiq and Naim remained unbeaten as Abahani continued their winning streak
Abahani Limited and Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited maintained their winning run, while Old DOHS picked up their first victory of the ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League Twenty20 at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Saturday.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim and opener Mohammad Naim remained unbeaten as Abahani continued their winning streak.
Abahani recorded a nine-wicket victory over Brothers Union to make it three wins in three games.
Rain affected the game, turning it to a 11-over per side tie.
Abahani opted to field first and limited the opponents to 101 for five.
Brothers had a good start as the openers added 38 to the board with Mizanur Rahman scoring a quick 14-ball 20 before getting dismissed.
Fall of the first wicket led the innings to a sprawl as Abahani left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny removed Mysukur Rahman and Rahatul Ferdous, both for golden ducks, off consecutive deliveries in the sixth over.
The struggle worsened after pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib removed Junaid Siddique and Habibur Rahman, also off back-to-back deliveries to leave Brothers reeling on 51 for five.
Alauddin Babu (24 off 10) and wicket-keeper Zahiduzzaman (25 off 10) remained unbeaten to help Brothers finish on 101.
Tanzim and Sunny shared five wickets between themselves, with the former finishing with three for nine in two overs.
Chasing the small target, Abahani lost only opener Munim Shahriar on 12-ball 25 as Mushfiq and Naim took charge.
Mushfiq scored a flashy 21-ball 37 laced with six boundaries, while Naim remained not out on 36 off 26.
