Tigers hunt historic series win

Hosts Bangladesh will aim to seal the five-match T20I series against visiting Australia when they face each other in the third T20I in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Friday.

The Tigers are on the verge of history after outclassing depleted Australia in the first two encounters in Mirpur in successive days, and will now have their first chance at winning the series from the remaining three matches.

Bangladesh camp are in a relax mood as they took rest Thursday ahead of their next game.

But the Tigers camp are determined to keep up their momentum in the third game and wrap the series with another commanding display.

“Definitely [looking for a series win in the next game]. We are taking it one game at a time. We need to stand up there in the middle and perform to the best of our ability. That’s what matters,” said Mahmudullah at the post-match presentation Wednesday.

Australia on the other hand are looking for solutions to end their dismal batting efforts in both the games so far.

They failed to chase down 130-odd runs in the first match while scored only 121 in the second.

The Aussies are facing tough times in T20Is in recent times as they lost a five-match T20I series 4-1 to the West Indies in July.

The visitors must fix their batting woes in the next game to stay alive in the series.

"The wickets we are playing on here, and even in Barbados in the one-day series, are alien to what we probably come across," said all-rounder Moises Henriques, who made 30 Wednesday.

"There are big adjustments for us and we probably have to adapt a bit quicker, that's for sure. There are no excuses.

"I think it's great for us to get exposed to this because I don't think it's going to get any more different, any more the opposite to what we are used to in Australia."

The third match of the series will start at 6pm local time.
