Ace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan emerged as the first cricketer to score 1,000 runs and pick up 100 wickets in T20 internationals.

A man with many records, Shakib added another feather to his illustrious career during the fifth and final T20I of the series against visitors Australia at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Monday.

Shakib already had 1,707 runs ahead of the game, and was two wickets shy from 100 wickets.

The left-arm spinner first removed Australia captain Mathew Wade in the eight over and then in the 12th reached the landmark by dismissing Ashton Turner to leave the visitors reeling on 54 for seven chasing 123 runs.

Turner amid pressure situation went to cut a turning away delivery straight to the fielder at cover.

Shakib also became only the second player to have scalped 100 T20I wickets.

Shakib finished with four wickets in the game conceding just nine runs in 3.4 overs as Australia got bundled out for their lowest T20I total, 62 inside 14 overs.

Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi is the closest to Shakib’s record with 1,416 runs and 98 wickets.
