Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim struck an unbeaten 70 to guide his side Bangladesh A to a six-wicket victory against BCB HP Unit in the first of three one-dayers in Chittagong's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Tuesday.

The 91-ball knock will come as a relief to Mushfiq ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup as the 34-year old missed most of the action for Bangladesh in recent times, before making a disappointing return to the New Zealand series at home.

Mushfiq totalled just 39 runs in five T20Is against the Kiwis after missing the five T20Is against Australia at home due to Covid-19 protocol.

His last competitive action before the New Zealand series came away to Zimbabwe in the lone Test in July this year, following which he decided to skip the three ODIs and as many T20Is owing to personal reasons.

Having decided to play for Bangladesh A team in the first two one-dayers in order to get some match action under his belt, Mushfiq finally returned among the runs, hitting half a dozen fours and a six in his 147-minute vigil at the crease.

Chasing 248, the A team reached their destination with 13 balls to spare, thanks to Mushfiq's unbeaten knock and 60 from national discard Imrul Kayes.

The BCB HP Unit were earlier dismissed for 247 in 48.5 overs; off-spinner Mosaddek Hossain causing the most damage with four wickets.

Young opener Tanzid Hasan top-scored for BCB HP Unit with a brisk 93-ball 81, while Shahadat Hossain chipped in with 51.

The two teams earlier played a two-match four-day series, with both the games finishing in draw.
