Shakib's Kolkata stay alive in IPL after beating Mustafizur's Rajasthan

Shakib al Hasan's Kolkata Knight Riders registered a convincing 86-run win over Mustafizur Rahman's Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League in the UAE Thursday, as the former kept alive their hope of securing a playoff berth.

Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore have already ensured their place in the playoffs, while Punjab Kings, Rajasthan and Sunrisers Hyderabad are out of the tournament.

The fourth and final playoff spot will be decided Friday when Mumbai Indians face off against Hyderabad.

Kolkata (0.587 net run rate) have 14 points from as many matches, while Mumbai (-0.048) have 12 points from 13 games.

Anything other than a comprehensive Mumbai win will see Kolkata into the playoffs.

In the battle between the two Bangladeshis, Shakib had the last laugh as Kolkata dismissed Rajasthan for 85 in 16.1 overs, with Mustafizur unbeaten at the end on nought off three balls.

Shakib only got to bowl the one over, but conceded only one run and took the wicket of Rajasthan opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (nought).

Kolkata earlier posted a competitive 171/4 in their 20 overs, with Shakib denied the opportunity to bat once again like the last game.

Mustafizur had a quiet evening as he gave away 31 runs in his quota of four overs, and remained wicketless.
