A total of 24 players from Iran, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Canada, the UAE, Bahrain and hosts Bangladesh will take part in the tournament
To honor and celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh is going to organize its first ever international squash tournament.
A total of 24 renowned squash players from Iran, Egypt, India, Pakistan, Canada, the UAE, Bahrain and hosts Bangladesh will take part in the tournament, scheduled to be held from October 20 to 24 at Gulshan Club, Army Squash Complex and Uttara Club in the capital city.
The event has been organized by Bangladesh Squash Rackets Federation and sponsored by Ispahani Group.
The winners of this tournament will also participate in an exhibition match in Chittagong on October 25.
The Bangabandhu International Squash Tournament's trophy was unveiled at a city hotel where Omar Hannan, general manager of Ispahani Group, Rashed Ahmed Chowdhury and Brigadier General Selim Akhtar (retd), vice presidents of BSRF, Brigadier General Kamrul Islam SPP (retd), general secretary of BSRF, and Mohammad Masud Karim, secretary of National Sports Council were present.
This is not the first time Ispahani Group has championed the cause of squash as it has previously sponsored other tournaments by BSRF, and has also sponsored other competitions in cricket, football, basketball, chess and golf, among others.
