
Mohammad Moniruzzaman of Bangladesh Army broke a 27-year national record Saturday at the 41st National Athletics Competition, sponsored by NRB Commercial Bank, when he registered 64.05m in the javelin throw event at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.
Moniruzzaman achieved the landmark during the second day of the three-day competition.
The previous record belonged to Chittagong's Mohammad Rasheduzzaman, who posted 63.74m in 1990.
The prize giving ceremony will be held Sunday where Bangladesh Athletics Federation president ASM Ali Kabir will be present as chief guest.
