Bangladesh two rating points short of eighth position in Tests
Bangladesh have gained eight points from the recently concluded two-match Test series against England. Although their ranking position (ninth) remained unchanged, the Tigers now have 65 ranking points and cut the deficit to the West Indies, who still hold eighth position with 67 rating points. If Bangladesh had won the series 1-0, then their points tally would have reached 72 and if they had swept the series 2-0, then their tally would have been 75. The series eventually ended 1-1 with Bangladesh losing the first Test by 22 runs before winning the second by 108 runs. Meanwhile, off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz has jumped to 33rd position in the International Cricket Council's Test bowlers' rankings after the second Test. Miraz was previously 61st after his debut in Chittagong. But a 12-wicket haul has lifted him to 33rd with 463 rating points. On the other hand, ace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan is currently holding the highest position in the all-rounders' rankings with 672 points. In the meantime, opener Tamim Iqbal (20th) has jumped to the top 20 batsmen's list with 668 rating points. Mominul Haque and Shakib lie 26th and 27th respectively.
