The opening day of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Twenty20 was abandoned without a ball being bowled as both the matches - Comilla Victorians v Rajshahi Kings and Rangpur Riders v Khulna Titans – were called off due to rain in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Friday.
The second match between the Titans and the Riders was officially called off at 9:25pm local time. The first match was called off at 4:50 pm.
Each of the four teams have received a point each as there is no reserve day available.
It was raining in Dhaka throughout Friday, owing to a depression in the Bay of Bengal. The weather was quite good in the morning but just before the first match, rain came pouring down and continued throughout afternoon and evening.
