Chittagong Vikings v Dhaka Dynamites
Packed house at ZACS
It was a full house at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in the port city when the second phase of the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20's fourth edition got underway on Thursday. To add to the excitement of the crowd, local side Chittagong faced Dhaka in their quest to return to winning ways. However, Tamim Iqbal’s side disappointed the jam-packed crowd as they suffered a 19-run defeat. Despite the outcome, around 15,000 spectators enjoyed the game, proving that Chittagong is always up for a game of cricket.

Chittagong choke once again
Chittagong are in desperate need of a win in order to regain their confidence as Tamim’s side fell to their fourth defeat in five games. Chittagong bowlers did all the hard work to restrict the star-studded Dhaka batting line-up to 148/9. But once again it was their batting which led to their downfall. In pursuit of a relatively small total on a batting-friendly wicket, Chittagong struggled their way to 129/8 with Tamim and Mahmudul Hasan the only batsmen who offered any kind of assistance.

Brilliant Shahzad behind the wicket
Rangpur's Afghanistan wicket-keeper Mohammad Shahzad was magnificent behind the wicket against Barisal. The 28-year took a brilliant catch to dismiss opening batsman Dilshan Munaweera as the ball kissed his bat and was going down the leg-side. Shahzad though intervened, taking a sharp catch off the bowling of Sohag Gazi. He then made three outstanding stumpings to dismiss in-form Shahriar Nafees, skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and Taijul Islam. In total, he accounted for six dismissals.
Rangpur’s team meeting after every over
It was an intense battle between Rangpur and Barisal with the match going right down to the wire. Chasing 176, Barisal were at one stage going strong, thanks to quickfire knocks from Jeevan Mendis and Nadif Chowdhury. The high-scoring game was all set for a cracker of a finish. And the intensity of the battle seemed to have gotten to both the teams. Before, during and after every over, almost all the Rangpur fielders gathered together for a short team meeting, led by Pakistan superstar Shahid Afridi, skipper Naeem Islam and stumper Shahzad.
