Fast bowler Rubel Hossain has been called up as a like-for-like replacement for the injured Mohammad Shahid in the 22-member Bangladesh squad ahead of their preparatory camp.
Shahid injured his right knee while fielding in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20's fourth edition for Dhaka Dynamites against Comilla Victorians on November 26.
He was replaced by Rubel who was left out from the Tigers' latest squad in the bilateral home series against England after a disappointing performance in the Afghanistan ODIs.
However, Rubel came into contention as he is currently enjoying a good time with the leather in BPL 4 for Rangpur Riders, picking up 15 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 21.06.
The 22 members of the Bangladesh squad will travel to Sydney, Australia in two groups this Friday and Saturday. There, they will train for a week before flying off to New Zealand on December 18.
