Indian cricketer hits triple century in T20
In a mind-boggling feat, Delhi cricketer Mohit Ahlawat has smashed the first individual triple ton in Twenty20. He scored an unbeaten 302 off just 72 balls in the Friends Premier League, a Delhi local tournament, for Maavi XI against Friends XI on Tuesday, reports the Hindustantimes. The 21-year-old Delhi boy’s innings involved 14 fours and a staggering 39 sixes. His effort helped Maavi XI post a massive 416/2, a record total in any Twenty20 game. Mohit Ahlawat’s never-seen-before innings came in a 40-yard field. “I had scored an unbeaten 224 in a 40-over match in a Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) league last year and a 158 in a T20 game. I’ve played a few big knocks before. So I knew I could do it again,” Delhi boy Mohit Ahlawat said. His knock has redefined the Twenty20 record book. The highest T20 team score before this was 263/5 by Royal Challengers Bangalore against Sahara Pune Warriors in the 2013 IPL. The highest individual score by a batsman was 175 by Chris Gayle in the same match. Ahlawat has basically scored more than an entire team. His tally of 39 sixes is also monumental, considering the maximum number of sixes by a team in an innings so far was 21. If one looks at an entire Twenty20 game, then it was 34 sixes. Once again, Ahlawat has outscored all. Upcoming star Before the start of the 2016-17 Ranji Trophy season, Ahlawat had scored 158 in a DDCA league game but his crowning moment came when he slammed 140 with the No.11 to take his team home. Those knocks helped Ahlawat get a place in the Delhi Ranji Team. However, in three games against Rajasthan, Vidarbha and Haryana, he managed scores of just 4, 0 and 1. Mohit Ahlawat, who stays at the Bharat Nagar Academy near Feroz Shah Kotla with coach Sanjay Bharadway, said he is hoping this knock would get him some recognition. “I was in the Delhi team camp for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy but was not selected. With this knock, I hope to make it to the Vijay Hazare squad.”
