Bangladesh have already announced the 18-man ODI squad for the tri-nation series against host Ireland and New Zealand and 15-man ODI squad for the 2017 Champions Trophy.
The squads are believed to be formidable as Bangladesh chose five pacers, one wicketkeeper-batsman, one spinner, three all-rounders and five specialist batsmen for the Champions Trophy, along with four extra players for the tri-series.
ODI captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza also admitted that these are their best possible squads for the tour of the UK.
With that said, there are some performers in the domestic circuit who were under the radar of the national selectors and came very close to earning a call-up.
Those players' performances in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League 2016 season were significant but they have to perform better as competition for places is currently intense in the national squad.
Batsmen like Raqibul Hasan, Mominul Haque, Mohammad Mithun and Shamsur Rahman scored notable runs in the 2016 DPL, averaging around 40 or more. But none of them made big runs in the 2017 DPL.
Although the DPL has just started and it is too early to label those batsmen as failure, big scores in the three rounds could have caught the selectors' attention.
So the players have to adjust their game plan and fitness level in order to stake a claim for a place in the competitive national squad in future.
As far as bowling goes, pacers Al Amin Hossain and Kamrul Islam Rabbi bowled well in 2016 while this year, Al Amin and Abu Haider Rony started well. But their displays were not enough to warrant a call-up to the national side.
With the team flying off to Sussex, England on Wednesday night ahead of the tri-series and the eighth edition of the Champions Trophy, these group of players can easily be drafted into the Missing XI.
