Starc: Mustafizur is a class bowler
Australia speedster Mitchell Starc is perhaps one of the most dangerous fast bowlers in world cricket at the moment with his sheer pace and bounce along with swing. The left-arm paceman damaged the Tigers batting line-up in their second 2017 Champions Trophy match on Monday and ended up picking 4/29 from 8.3 overs as Bangladesh were all out for 182 runs in 44.3 overs. Opening batsman Tamim Iqbal played a courageous 114-ball 95 to take the Tigers to a respectable total and the knock's importance was not lost on Starc, who praised the Bangladesh opener. Starc also heaped praise on pace bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman and said the “cutter master” has a bright future ahead of him. Here are the excerpts of his interaction with the media: How do you rate Tamim’s knock? Obviously he took his time and made his way to 95. Yes, probably he was the pillar of the innings but not too much scoring around him. He did score a hundred in the first game as well. Do you think the pitch has very less to offer for the seamers in the Champions Trophy so far? Wicket is pretty flat. There is not much swing, not too much in the wicket really. And in the last couple of months in domestic cricket here in England, there were quite a few high scores. I think we expect some more high scores this week and once the wicket gets old, it might take a bit of spin and the scores might come down a little bit. So yes, pretty good battle between bat and ball at the moment. Bangladesh captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza said Mustafizur and yourself are the two best pacers right now in world cricket. How do you see this? It's pretty humbling. He’s (Mashrafe) played a lot of cricket so it's humbling to hear from another captain. I haven’t seen Fizz bowling but heard about him a lot from the IPL. But it's nice to have a couple of left-armers around. Yes, obviously he is a very young and class bowler and he has got a lot of respect on him. I am sure he is going to do well over the next few years of his career. Was extra pace in your mind before the game against Bangladesh? Yes, 100%, a bit of extra firepower. The wicket is quite flat but as you can see, a few balls bounced pretty well. So I think the bit of extra pace we have got and bounce are important for us. We have to use our bouncers against some of the sub-continental teams. Probably what we really did well compared to the New Zealand game was the length. And we got the result.
