Bangladesh opening batsman Tamim Iqbal has been offered to play for English county side Essex Eagles in the NatWest T20 Blast.
It was learned that the left-hander received a proposal from Essex after their first two games in the 2017 Champions Trophy against host England and Australia where he smashed 128 and 95 respectively.
According to sources, Tamim has already received the proposal from Essex.
The cricketer from Chittagong will have a busy schedule ahead after just finishing a long tour of over one and a half months. The NatWest T20 Blast is scheduled to start from July 7 this year.
If he does play for Essex, Tamim will have to return for their home series against Australia, also scheduled for July, which will soon be followed by the South Africa tour. However, there is a high chance that he will play for Essex.
Dutchman Ryan ten Doeschate is the captain of the Eagles where Tamim will have former England Test skipper Alastair Cook, Ravi Bopara and Ashar Zaidi as team mates.
Previously Tamim played for Nottinghamshire back in 2011 where he played five games. If things go according to plan, Tamim might play more than five matches for Essex this season.
Tamim is currently the third highest run-scorer in the Champions Trophy with 293 runs in four games, including one hundred and two fifties, at an average of 73.25.
