Lynn highly doubtful for BPL 5

Update : 23 Jul 2017, 08:19 PM
Australia opener Chris Lynn’s shoulder surgery has put his availability in the BPL T20 2017 in doubt. Lynn was set to feature for BPL franchise Khulna Titans in the fifth edition of the tournament, set to begin in November this year. The hard-hitting right-handed batsman's surgery was revealed on Sunday by a local Australia newspaper. According to the report, Lynn is set to have surgery on his troublesome left shoulder on Monday. And as a result, the Australia batsman is likely to be out of action till the end of the year, thus ruling him out from the Caribbean Premier League T20, Australia's proposed ODI tour of India in September-October, the BPL and the Big Bash League in Australia. “I have been battling through each tournament and umming and arring at training but the time has come to get it done,’’ Lynn said to Australia-based newspaper Daily Mail.
“I was getting sorer and sorer after training. I am pretty confident I will be back for the Big Bash. I was supposed to play in the CPL on Wednesday so I have had to give them the bad news. I will cost myself a bit but physically and mentally it will mean a lot to get it done. Right now it is about 50% and declining. If I can get it up to around 90% I would be real happy with that,’’ he added.
Meanwhile, the BPL governing council in a meeting on Monday is all set to decide the names of the eight Icon cricketers for the season. It is almost certain that the seven Icons from last season will see their status remain unchanged. With the BPL turning into an eight-team affair from this season onwards, it is understood that young left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman is likely to be named as the eighth Icon.

The BPL GC on Monday is also set to discuss its policy on foreign players in the playing XI. The BPL GC following requests from franchises had proposed of allowing maximum five overseas in the starting XI. However, a final decision is set to come out only after opinions taken from the franchises. Saturday was the last day for the franchises to submit their opinion on the issue.
