Rangpur Riders pacer Rubel Hossain admitted that he is trying to learn about bowling in the death overs from Sri Lankan recruit Lasith Malinga.
Rangpur have contested six matches in the BPL 2017 so far, winning thrice. The right-arm paceman has played four games for Rangpur so far, taking as many wickets. Malinga has also taken part in four matches for Rangpur, bagging the same number of wickets with an economy rate of 7.26.
Malinga has featured for various franchises all over the world like Mumbai Indians, Melbourne Stars, Guyana Amazon Warriors and Jamaica Tallawahs, among others, and boasts vast experience in the shorter formats of the game. He is famous for his slinging action and accurate bowling, particularly in the death overs. Malinga has picked 311 wickets in 244 T20s.
“Everyone around the world knows about the world class bowling of Malinga. I am trying to learn how Malinga bowls those brilliant yorkers in the death overs. I am also trying to learn from him during the practice sessions. Malinga grips the ball differently while bowling slower deliveries. I will try to bowl slower deliveries with such kind of grip later,” Rubel said to the media at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium Thursday.
“Malinga even don’t use one of his fingers while bowling slower deliveries. I have tried that a few times in practice. I am facing a few problems trying such kind of deliveries. But I can learn that and will try to apply it later,” he added.
