
Nurul Hasan’s seventh first-class hundred propelled Prime Bank South Zone to a massive total in the first innings against Walton Central Zone in the second round game of the 6th Bangladesh Cricket League at BKSP in Dhaka Tuesday. At stumps on day two, Central Zone trail by 434 runs.
The game resumed with South Zone on an overnight score of 108 for the loss of two wickets. Unbeaten batsmen from the first day, Shahriar Nafees and Tushar Imran got dismissed for 80 and 56 respectively. Later in the innings, Nurul and Al Amin Jr took charge. Wicketkeeper-batsman Nurul added 133 to the total, off 129 deliveries, aided with 15 boundaries and three over boundaries. Al Amin struck a half-century as the batsman added 52 to the tally. South Zone lost 10 wickets posting 448 on the board as Central Zone pacers Abu Haider and Ebadat Hossain bagged three wickets each.
Later, Central Zone batted seven overs and scored 14 without any loss.
Meanwhile in the other game, BCB North Zone ended the day with a 12-run lead in the second innings against Islami Bank East Zone at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. North Zone started the game having been all out for only 187 but their bowlers ensured they straightaway bounce back in the tie.
East Zone started the day on 24 for four wickets and were eventually dismissed for 211 in the first innings. Mehedi Rana added unbeaten 46 to the total while Yasir Ali scored 45. It was a joint effort by the North Zone bowlers as pace trio Shafiul Islam, Ariful Haque and Farhad Reza picked up three wickets each to restrict the opponent to a small total.
North Zone batted seven overs in the evening and scored 36 without loss with openers Nazmul Hossain and Mizanur Rahman unbeaten on 16 and 19 respectively.
