Dickwella drops crucial Mominul catch
Bangladesh started day five on the back foot as they lost three wickets in the last hour of day four and still trailed by 119 runs. But unbeaten batsmen Mominul Haque and Liton Das batted confidently, remaining unbeaten in the first session of day five. Mominul did give a chance in the fifth over of the morning session, albeit it was a relatively tough opportunity. It was a good length ball from left-arm spinner Rangana Herath. The delivery slid away outside off stump and Mominul stuck his bat out only to connect an edge. Wicket-keeper Niroshan Dickwella, perhaps, wasn't low enough to cling onto the chance. It was a costly error from Sri Lanka’s point of view as Mominul blasted a century (105 off 174 balls) in the end to put Bangladesh in a comfortable position before getting out.
Suicidal Liton shot ends brilliant innings
Mominul and Liton added 180 runs together for the fourth wicket to take the Tigers on the verge of safety. But after Mominul’s wicket, the responsibility was on Liton as he was batting nicely. But when on 94, Liton tried to reach his three-figure milestone with a six. He charged down the ground against Herath in the second ball of the 82nd over. And the result was terrible for Bangladesh as off-spinner Dilruwan Perera took a brilliant catch. And so, a suicidal shot from Liton saw him get dismissed after playing so well. Suddenly, there were two new batsmen at the crease for Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were right back into the game.
