Tamim out for single digit Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal always stood tall in crucial moments for his country. He batted well and inspired the Tigers to Test match victory on difficult Mirpur wickets against the likes of England and Australia. Tamim even played a brave knock in the fourth innings against Sri Lanka in Colombo during Bangladesh’s 100th Test last year, which the Tigers eventually won by four wickets. Bangladesh needed a good start from the left-hander in both innings of the Dhaka Test but Tamim lost his wicket early in the second innings. As a result Bangladesh felt pressure right from the very beginning. Tamim scored four in the first innings and two in the second. Sabbir fails to make impression Sabbir Rahman was suddenly included in the squad after the Chittagong Test. Surprisingly, he was selected over youngster Mosaddek Hossain. The national selectors claimed that Mosaddek’s batting approach was not upto the mark after the right-hander made an unbeaten eight off 53 balls, thus helping his team to secure a draw. But the team management opted for Sabbir and the right-hander only scored nought and one in both innings, managing to face just three and two balls respectively. Sabbir also missed quite a few catches at the slip cordon in both the innings. A horrible return to the side for Sabbir, who is currently banned in domestic cricket following his unacceptable behavior with a fan a few months ago. Herath becomes highest left-arm wicket-taker Veteran Sri Lanka spinner Rangana Herath Saturday claimed 415 wickets in Test cricket, becoming the highest left-arm wicket-taker in history. Herath achieved the feat after getting the wicket of lower-order batsman Taijul Islam in the 30th over of Bangladesh’s innings. Herath overtook Pakistan great Wasim Akram, who took 414 wickets in his career. Wasim took his wickets in 181 innings while Herath leapfrogged his tally in 162 innings. New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori (362), Sri Lanka’s Chaminda Vaas (355) and Australia’s Mitchell Johnson (313) are third, fourth and fifth respectively in the list. Herath took nine wickets in the two-match series.
