Three centuries were registered in round three of the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League Thursday. Shamsur Rahman and Abdul Mazid struck hundreds as their respective sides Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited and Legends of Rupganj bagged wins. Towhid Hridoy struck an unbeaten ton but was not able to inspire Shinepukur Cricket Club to victory against Agrani Bank Cricket Club.
Mohammedan v Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club
Shamsur’s unbeaten 123 runs steered Mohammedan to their maiden win of the season. Chasing 288, Mohammedan reached the shore with five wickets in hand against Sheikh Jamal at BKSP.
Asked to bat first, riding on Nurul Hasan's 77, Rakin Ahmed's 64 and another 50 by Saykat Ali, Sheikh Jamal posted 287 losing nine wickets in their stipulated 50 overs. Subashish Roy and Taijul Islam picked up two wickets each for Mohammedan.
Later, Mohammedan captain Shamsur remained unbeaten on 123 off 124 balls while Salman Butt and Raqibul Hasan added 81 and 63 respectively to guide their side to the destination in 48.1 overs. Robiul Haque took two wickets for Sheikh Jamal.
Agrani Bank v Shinepukur
Newly-promoted Agrani Bank recorded their second win of the season defeating Shinepukur by five wickets at BKSP.
Batting first, courtesy Towhid’s unbeaten 122, Shinepukur scored 264 for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Towhid in his 125-ball innings hammered eight boundaries and three over boundaries. Uday Kaul added a 95-ball 77. Abdur Razzak notched three wickets for Agrani Bank.
Later, Agrani Bank reached the target in 46.5 overs as Azmir Ahmed, Dhiman Ghosh and Salman Hossain scored half-centuries. Opener Azmir added 51 to the tally while Dhiman and Salman remained undefeated on 85 and 65 respectively to take Agrani Bank to victory in 46.5 overs.
Shuvagata Hom picked up two wickets for Shinepukur.
Rupganj v Prime Bank Cricket Club
Inspired by Mazid's 110, Rupganj moved up the points table to second after securing a 24-run win against Prime Bank in Fatullah's Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium.
Invited to take first guard, Rupganj, riding on Mazid's 110 off 122 balls and Naeem Islam's 51, made 239/6 in their 50 overs. Delwar Hossain picked up three wickets for Prime Bank.
Later, Mohammad Shahid, Asif Hasan and Mosharraf Hossain bagged three wickets each for Rupganj as they restricted Prime Bank to 215 in 48.2 overs. Al Amin scored 68, the highest of Prime Bank’s innings.
